CMC
can be used in ceramic body, glazing pulp, and fancy glaze. Used in ceramic
body, it is a good strengthening agent, which can strengthen the mouldability
of mud and sand materials, facilitate body shaping and increase the folding
strength of the green body. Used in glazing pulp and fancy glaze, it is a
binder that plays a role of suspending, deflocculating and water holding.
1.Application in ceramic body
When CMC, the unique linear polymers structure, is in the water, its
hydrophilic radical combined with water and become the solvation layer and make
the CMC molecule be dispersed gradually in the water. CMC high polymers become
the network structure supporting by the hydrogen bond and Van der Waals forces,
where the bond property is shown. Ceramic body CMC works as the excipient,
plasticizer and intensifier in ceramic industry.
*Small usage, high and obvious effect of green body breaking strength
*Increase the processing speed of the green body and reduce the energy
consumption
*Good ignition loss, no residue after burning and no infection of original
color
*Convenient for technological operation, avoid the flows of crawling and dry
spray;
*Good effect of decondensation, increasing the glaze liquidity, and easy for
glaze spraying;
*As excipient of blank material to increase the mud plasticity, and make easy
for body shaping
*Strong resistance to mechanical wear and few broken molecular chains during
ball-milling or mechanical stirring
*As intensifier of blank material to increase the green body breaking strength,
enhance its stability and reduce the damage percentage.
*Good suspending and dispersity property. Avoid the coagulation of the lean
materials and color pulp pellet, and makes the pulp distribute evenly.
*Evenly evaporate the moisture from the blank material, and prevent from being
dried and cracked, especially used in the large-sized blank material of floor
tile and polished tile and with good effect
2. Applications in glazing pulp
CMC belongs to polyelectrolytes. It worked as binder and played a role of
suspending. When CMC is added into glaze pulp, water seeped into the gel
inside, and then its hydrophilic radical combined with water, and makes it
swell. In addition, the gel inside is in the hydration swelling conditions,
while its outside forms the bound water layer. The micelle is free in the
liquid cement at the first dissolution and due to the different and asymmetric
size and form, and regularly close up to each other through the Van der Waals
forces and then combined with water layer to form the large size network
structure, so it has the stronger adhesive capacity.
*Rheological property can be effectively adjusted under the condition of low
usage, which brings convenience for enamelling;
*Improve the binding ability of the base body, increase the intensity of the
glaze surface significantly and prevent glaze dropping off;
*High smoothness on glaze surface and stable glazing pulp, and reduce the
pinholes of the glaze surface after burning
*Excellent performance in spreading and colloid protecting to make the glazing
pulp in a stable dispersed status;
*Enhance the surface tension of the glaze materials, prevent water spreading
into the base and increase the smoothness of the glaze;
*Avoid the body cracking and printing break in the transportation due to the
reduction of the body strength after enamelling.
3.Application in ceramic decalcomania
CMC, with good solubility and high transparency of the solution, as well as no
residue, possesses the excellent shear-thinning and lubrication, and greatly
enhance the decalcomania adaptability and

4.Application in ceramic penetration glaze
Penetration glaze contains a lot of soluble salt matter with partial acid
property. CMC which used in penetration glaze has the excellent stability of
acid resistance, salt resistance, and keep the viscosity stable in use or
storage, and avoid the chromatic aberration caused by viscosity change, so it
greatly improve the stability of the penetration glaze

maintain the viscosity stable of the infiltrate glaze
